Abstract:Objective To evaluate the dietary quality of adult residents by Chinese dietary balance index (DBI_16) for effective dietary nutrition intervention. Methods Totally 5 078 residents aged 1879 with 3 days dietary information and basic information collection were selected from Chinese household consumption survey from 2018 to 2020.Dietary quality was evaluated by using DBI16 scoring and evaluating system. Results The positive end score (DBI_HBS) and total score (DBI_TS) of the urban residents with middle and junior high school education were higher than or equal to those with junior college education. Generally speaking, the residents were in lowgrade dietary imbalance situation, with lowgrade excessive intake (overall score of DBI_HBS=11.6±6.0) and lowgrade insufficient intake (negative end score, overall score of DBI_LBS=20.4±5.7). The degrees of insufficient, excessive and unbalanced dietary intake of rural residents were lower than those of urban residents (t = 4.47, 2.67 and 4.72, all P<0.01). The main dietary patterns were A and E. Conclusion There exist low dietary imbalance in adult residents in Fujian. Dietary guidance and nutritional intervention should be carried out to gradually improve the dietary quality of the residents.
